United States Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz, is the first in race for 2016 Presidential election. Cruz, 44, was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He announced his candidature today.

Although only the U.S.-born citizens can contest the Presidential election, the Republican senator claims that he will be eligible for the post after conceding his Canadian citizenship.

Reportedly, Cruz has released his birth certificate that says his mother was born in Delaware and father in Cuba.

The U.S. Constitution expects a candidate for President to be a U.S. resident for 14 years and a “natural born citizen.”

Meanwhile, Cruz has begun his election campaign with the launch of a dedicated website.
