Handcrafted Collection Inspired by India Unveiled

With a rich history of working with Indian artisans and their traditional techniques to create unique and authentic products, Cost Plus World Market has launched its spring collection, Voyage Les Indiennes, a celebration of India’s craftsmanship.

When World Market first began importing goods from around the world in the 1950s, the specialty retailer’s buyers traveled to India to introduce U.S. customers to beautiful handcrafted products including rugs, carved decorative pieces and ceramics.

The new Voyage Les Indiennes Collection combines World Market’s love of discovery and travel to faraway places into everyday products for the home. The traditional art of block printing is reflected in textiles including reversible, 100 percent cotton rugs in multicolor patchwork or Kalamkari patterns. And, due to the handcrafted nature of these rugs, each one is slightly different, adding genuine uniqueness to one’s home.

The furniture and décor items in the new collection are inspired by Indian architecture but updated for an urban lifestyle. The curvy, upholstered Ninda queen headboard and frame paired with the new Ravi or Khara quilt set and the Basanti Hexagon Table create a dramatic focal point in any bedroom.

The Cala Hammered Coffee Table brings texture to a living room while the removable top adds functional storage space for a spare throw or two. Several of the pieces from the Collection reflect the Colonial England and Moorish influences in India’s architecture that can still be seen throughout the country today.

Accent pieces like a stamped metal mirror, drum and nesting tables, embroidered toss pillows and metal door picture frames allow the customer to display authentic decorative items.

Setting a global tablescape is beautiful and easy with the Voyage Plates Collection: Four different designs rimmed with traditional Indian patterns mix and match well with solid or patterned textiles, and everyday glassware.
