Kung Fu Panda Video Games Come with Movie

Interactive entertainment software company THQ is releasing Kung Fu Panda 2 video game, for Kinect for Xbox 360, PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, uDraw GameTablet for Wii and the Nintendo DS handheld system.

Also, you can uncover the Secret of the Thousand Scrolls in the original iPhone and iPad game, titled Kung Fu Panda 2: Be the Master.

Gamers’ skills will be put to the test as Po and his friends find Gongmen City threatened by a new evil and embark on an all new epic kung fu adventure.

The release of the Kung Fu Panda 2 video games comes just two days before the theatrical debut from DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc.

Only on Kinect for Xbox 360 (suggested retail price: $49.99 U.S.) will players truly become Po, using their bodies as the video game controllers. It’s the first time a major animated character has appeared on Kinect for Xbox 360, and the game also includes never-before-seen enemies.

Players must master their kung fu training to block, dodge, duck, punch, kick — and even unleash special moves such as “Feet of Fury” and “Thunder Strike.” Onscreen, Po follows the player’s every move, no controller required — a combination of technology and character that has never before been possible, says THQ.

“The Kung Fu Panda 2 video games offer enormous innovation and creativity that bring the excitement of the movie to your living room,” said Martin Good, executive VP of THQ’s Kids, Family and Casual Games. “We’ve created unique elements for each platform so players can have different experiences with the same great story.”

On THQ’s uDraw GameTablet for Wii (SRP: $29.99 U.S.), players control Po with the uDrawTM stylus to fight and defend Gongmen City in story mode.

The PlayStation3 version of Kung Fu Panda 2 (SRP: $39.99 U.S.) highlights the strategy and wisdom inherent in kung fu, requiring players to deliver “acu-punches,” “thunder strikes” and “kung fu curls” while adding logic skills to help players master their talents as the one and only Dragon Warrior, Po.

On Nintendo DS (SRP: $29.99 U.S.), Kung Fu Panda 2 allows players to command Po as well as the Furious Five using the stylus, unleashing kung fu moves with Tigress, Monkey, Crane, Viper and Mantis.

THQ announced this today, May 24.
