The Republican National Committee (RNC) has launched a petition and digital ad campaign calling on President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to keep terrorists off American soil.

The campaign comes ahead of President Obama’s pending announcement to circumvent Congress and the law to close Guantanamo Bay, a plan Clinton supported as Secretary of State.

According to RNC, the digital ads and petition are the first part of a multi-week campaign by the RNC to hold Clinton accountable for supporting a dangerous plan the American people oppose.

The ads will initially target voters in Colorado, Kansas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Iowa, Missouri, and Georgia, before expanding to a national campaign.

The campaign will run statewide and in nearby states with an emphasis on independent voters who live near the proposed locations for holding Gitmo terrorists.

Other efforts over the coming days and weeks, according to RNC, will include local targeted campaigns, robocalls, and sustained efforts within communities in these states to hold Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama accountable. The RNC will also target Democrat Party officials on the federal and local level.

“Hillary Clinton’s support for President Obama’s plan to unilaterally close Guantanamo Bay, and bring terrorists to U.S. soil, is the latest example of how she’s failed the Commander-in-Chief test and can’t be trusted to keep America safe,” said RNC chairman Priebus. “We join the American people who overwhelmingly oppose bringing terrorist detainees on to our soil and will hold Democrat politicians who support this terrible idea accountable.”

According to RNC, President Obama is threatening to go around Congress with an executive action to close Guantanamo Bay and to move terrorist detainees to the United States.

“If you agree terrorist should be kept out of the United States, let Obama and Clinton know by signing the petition to keep terrorists out of our backyard,” RNC suggests.
