Protests Planned Against Trump’s Attempt to Stop Mueller Investigation

As President Donald Trump has fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions to scuttle investigations against his alleged crimes, a slew of organizations have planned to hold nationwide protests against Trump.

The Nobody Is Above the Law – which is network of multiple organizations – has given a call to hold protests today (November 8) at different U.S. localtions.

It states that Trump has installed a crony to oversee the special counsel Robert Mueller‘s Trump-Russia investigation, crossing a red line set to protect the investigation.

“Trump putting himself above the law is a threat to our democracy, and we’ve got to get Congress to stop him,” the network said. “We’re mobilizing immediately to demand accountability, because Trump is not above the law.”

After firing Sessions, Trump has named Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker as Mueller’s boss on the investigation with the aim to undercut the independence of the investigation.

“Whitaker has publicly outlined strategies to stifle the investigation and cannot be allowed to remain in charge of it,” says The Nobody Is Above the Law network, demanding that Whitaker must not assume supervision of the investigation.

The network said that hundreds of response events are being launched to demonstrate the public demand for action to correct this injustice.
