Regal Offer to Moviegoers for The Hobbit

Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE:RGC), a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating a theatre circuit in the United States, is celebrating the opening of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.”

With a Regal Super Ticket, guests have the ability to gain advance access to the new movie’s Digital HD download weeks before the Blu-Ray and DVD release date along with a digital copy of the first film “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

The Regal Super Ticket is available on REGmovies.com, Fandango.com, Fandango and Regal’s mobile apps and at all participating theatres.

Regal moviegoers who come to view the new film can choose to upgrade to a Regal Super Ticket either before or after enjoying Peter Jackson’s latest creation.

“Regal truly is your ‘Hobbit Headquarters.’ And for all of our guests who have a great time enjoying the new film, the experience doesn’t have to end when you leave our theatre,” said Ken Thewes, chief marketing officer for Regal Entertainment Group.

“By upgrading to the Regal Super Ticket, moviegoers can ensure that they’ll own the movie first and can treasure it forever.”

Regal is also accommodating moviegoers who want to view the film in High Frame Rate (HFR). Director Peter Jackson shot the movie at 48 frames-per-second as opposed to the standard 24 frames-per-second.

HFR technology is designed to add clarity and a smoother presentation of the image. Guests can find HFR presentations clearly marked on Fandango.com when choosing a showtime and securing tickets.

The Regal Super Ticket upgrade is $20 above the admission price to secure digital downloads of both films: The early-release high definition digital version of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and immediate access to a standard definition version of the original “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

After purchase, fans will receive a voucher containing a unique access code, which can be redeemed for digital versions of both “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

The standard definition digital version of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” will be immediately added to fans’ UltraViolet accounts when redeeming the access code.
