Relief for Families after Superstorm Sandy

Six months after Superstorm Sandy submerged the City by the Sea, Long Beach-based Powder Pouch LLC announced Thursday Get Sandy Relief, Give Sandy Relief, a charitable program to support friends and neighbors as they work to rebuild their homes.

Powder Pouch, a product that helps brush off beach sand, was created by a fifth-generation beach family in Long Beach, NY. As part of Get Sandy Relief, Give Sandy Relief, every Powder Pouch order in 2013 will trigger a donation to support families who are still struggling to overcome the devastation of Superstorm Sandy.

“We first created the Powder Pouch to keep our own children more comfortable when playing in the sand, but now the need for ‘Sandy Relief’ has taken on a whole new meaning,” said Mary Conway, a Long Beach native who developed Powder Pouch with her husband, Jeff.

“As we’re personally regaining our post-Sandy footing, we’re utilizing Powder Pouch to help others whose needs are far greater than our own.”

To ensure the direct support of those most in need, each Powder Pouch order will generate a donation to The Long Beach Christmas Angel, a local charity that has been helping Long Beach families for more than a decade.
