Close on the heels of her sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s roadshow in Delhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has become active in the Lok Sabha election campaign in the city.

In his attack on the rival parties, Rahul Gandhi said that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and PM Narendra Modi have been helping each other while Congress fought alone against Modi.

Referring to the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Congress president said Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had campaigned for Modi with the appeal that voters should elect Kejriwal as Delhi CM and Modi as India’s PM.

“AAP had opened doors for Modi while I and Congress workers have opposed Modi throughout the country,” Rahul Gandhi said in a Congress tweet.

In its election message, Congress is trying to leverage its past performance in Delhi when its local chief Sheila Dikshit was the CM.

“Vote for the party that electrified your homes, built your roads, gave your children clean water, and good education; but most of all made you proud of your Capital city. Your vote is your weapon against hate, lies, and corruption – don’t waste it,” Congress asks the local voters.

Referring to the corruption in Rafale deal in which PM Modi is the prime accused, Congress is running its campaign in Delhi with the slogan: “दिल्ली की गली गली में शोर है, चौकीदार चोर है।

It will be a triangular fight between AAP, BJP, and Congress in Delhi while currently all the 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi are held by BJP.

The Lok Sabha election in Delhi will take place in the sixth phase on May 12.
