Don’t Like Football? Watch Sony Romance Films

Even though over 111 million people tuned in to last year’s broadcast, Sony Movie Channel (SMC) recognizes the fact that there are a few million more TV viewers out there who would rather watch something other than the NFL’s matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.

Instead of presenting the drama of the Harbaugh Brothers taking sibling rivalry to the main stage on Feb. 3, SMC is punting toward romance all day long.

SMC’s alternative programming—airing during the game on Sunday, Feb. 3—will include:

6:10 PM E – THE END OF THE AFFAIR (1999) – The year is 1939 and England is at war–a tumultuous love affair is about to begin that will carry a tragic price tag. Ralph Fiennes, Julianne Moore, Stephen Rea, Ian Hart, Jason Isaacs, James Bolam and Samuel Bould star in this Academy Award-winning drama.

8:00 PM E – STARMAN (1984) – While helping a handsome alien in danger, a grieving widow begins to heal. Karen Allen, Jeff Bridges, Charles Martin Smith, Ted White, and Richard Jaeckel star in this film directed by John Carpenter.

10:00 PM E – MURPHY’S ROMANCE (1985) – A gutsy divorced woman finds love with the world’s most eligible widower. A comic May-December romance starring Sally Field and James Garner.
