Nobel Prize Series Launched in India

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Nobel Media and the Government of India (GOI), represented by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Ministry of Science and Technology for hosting Nobel Prize Series in India for five years.

“We are thrilled to bring Nobel Prize Series to India as a part of our global outreach with the ambition of raising engagement in science, literature and peace in line with Alfred Nobel’s vision,” said Mattias Fyrenius, CEO of Nobel Media.

“The Nobel Prize Series will bring, through a major event and digital media, the world’s best scientists to every young girl and boy in India with an interest in science,” said K. VijayRaghavan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

Nobel Prize Series is a unique programme combining a conference, lectures, roundtables, an exhibition and other meeting spaces. By bringing together Nobel Laureates, other experts and lifelong learners the programme aims to stimulate innovation and creative thinking.

The first Nobel Prize Series in India will be held in January 2017 in connection with the biennial summit “Vibrant Gujarat” held by the government of Gujarat. A trilateral MoU has been signed between the Department of Biotechnology, Government of Gujarat, and Nobel Media.

Beside the conference and meeting events, such as lectures, roundtables and other activities in Gandhinagar, Delhi and Bangalore, Nobel Prize Series will feature a 5-week long exhibition on how the science underlying the Nobel Prize have impacted our lives.
