20th Century Fox’s upcoming animated comedy RIO 2 is again going to the birds – the Angry Birds – as the Studio announced Wednesday it is continuing and expanding upon its relationship with Rovio’s “Angry Birds” brand.

The partnership was launched two years ago with the game “Angry Birds Rio.”

Rovio’s “Angry Birds Rio” game features hundreds of levels of entertainment. Forthcoming updates will include four episodes, each of which is thematically and visually connected to new 20th Century Fox’s RIO 2 animation film adventures of Blu, Jewel and the gang.

The episodes will be released as updates in the current “Angry Birds Rio” game. Fans can download the content updates and enjoy the new levels.

The first RIO 2 film themed game update takes flight on Dec. 18, with additional frequent new content rolling out in the next six months. The film’s worldwide release will be in April 2014.

The film stars Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, will.i.am, Jemaine Clement, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro, and Jamie Foxx, as well as Andy Garcia, Rita Moreno, Bruno Mars and Kristin Chenoweth.
