World Leadership Awards Event for Youth in August

Usher’s New Look Foundation will hold its first annual World Leadership Awards on Friday, August 6th at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, according to an announcement by the organization’s Founder and Chairman Usher Raymond IV, who lives in Atlanta.

The World Leadership Awards, which will bring together heads of state, civic and community leaders, philanthropists, and celebrities, will honor eight individuals for their commitment to supporting youth as leaders and change agents of some of our world’s most pressing issues, according to The New Look Foundation.

Awards will include the Youth Catalyst Award, the Global Youth Leadership Award, the Global Ambassador of Youth Award and others. Usher will perform live.

The event is co-chaired by John Rice, Vice Chairman of GE, and his wife, New Look Foundation Board Member Cammie Rice. Committee members include Senator Samuel and Colleen Nunn, former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, Governor Sonny Perdue, and Congressman John Lewis.

Among the sponsors are: Coca-Cola, GE, Turner Broadcasting, Georgia Power, Grey Goose, AEG Live, JP Morgan, Penske Automotive, Elizabeth Arden and Sony BMG.

According to John and Cammie Rice, “The New Look Foundation does extraordinary work across the country by inspiring young people and providing them with opportunities to lead change in their communities. We look forward to further positioning Atlanta as a global and internationally known city by bringing this unique event here.”

The New Look Foundation, established in 1999, mentors young people as global leaders. The programs train high school youth in leadership, business, education and service. Currently in seven cities, New Look has worked with over 8,700 young people, and has provided over 150,000 hours of leadership training.

With the launch of the Powered By Service campaign, an international call to youth service, at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009, the New Look Foundation has made service more diverse, relevant and accessible to all young people, says the Foundation in its statement.

Tickets to the Awards including the performance by Usher are available to the public through Ticketmaster or at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets are also available at the Bank of North Georgia Box Office at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, Atlanta.
