Waldorf Astoria Hotels Going Mobile with iPhone

The application features image gallery, search options and exclusive check-in prior to arrival. Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts has introduced a new iPhone application. In keeping with the expansion of Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of smartphone applications launched earlier this year, Waldorf Astoria guests can now receive service through this technology.

Whether securing early check-in on-the-go or perusing the hotel options around the globe, the new application caters to the needs of fast-paced, upscale travelers, says the company.

“The way that our customers search for and book their vacation experience is shifting,” stated Chuck Sullivan, senior vice president, global online services, Hilton Worldwide.

“In the first six months of 2010, we’ve noted an increase of 296 percent in reservations booked via mobile devices and a revenue increase of 295 percent that can be attributed to mobile compared to the same months in 2009. Our desire is to enable and facilitate a seamless customer experience regardless of how the customer chooses to make their reservations.”

Functionalities of the new Waldorf Astoria iPhone application include the ability to peruse the brand’s 22 hotels worldwide through a full image gallery, read the unique history of each hotel, search for rates and offers, book the property of choice or modify existing reservations.

Gold and Diamond HHonors members also have the exclusive opportunity to check into guestrooms up to 36 hours in advance using an e-check-in feature.

This application enhances Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of iPhone and iPod touch applications that were rolled out in the fall of last year.

Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn now feature applications and mobile sites.
