Like most other Indians are feeling, the former Prime Minister (PM) and top economist Dr Manmohan Singh also observes that Narendra Modi government has failed on all fronts.

In a hard-hitting speech delivered today, Manmohan Singh counted a number of social and economic areas in which the Modi government has almost destroyed the country in over 4 years of its rule.

“The Modi government has failed on all fronts,” Manmohan Singh said in his speech, adding that the growth in the country is declining and people are not impressed with the (fake) job numbers being released by the government.

He added that industrial production is down and exports are stagnant while Modi’s hyped programs such as Make in India and Standup India have failed to make any positive impact on the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Manmohan Singh is a senior leader in the Congress party, which has positioned itself as a true Hindu party with respect for all other religions. He is particularly disturbed with Modi’s despotic decision on demonetization and the hasty introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST). Manmohan Singh said that demonetization and GST had a bad impact on all the SMEs across the country.

Plus, he added that despite its promises, the Modi government failed to bring back black money stashed away in foreign banks by the corrupt.

He also expressed his concerns over the environment of fear in the country, saying that women, dalits, and minorities are living in an environment of increased insecurity.

In his speech, Manmohan Singh said that Modi has undermined all those values of a democratic polity that are required to protect people’s rights and under his regime the democratic institutions (such as press, judiciary, bureaucracy) that are supposed to ensure good governance are under increasing strain.

He observed that the Modi government has failed to use science & technology for national transformation while the atmosphere is completely vitiated in educational institutions such as the universities.

Also, he added that because of the erratic foreign policies of the Modi government, India’s relations with other countries are under stress and its neighborhood is not quite secure.
