Congress president Rahul Gandhi participated in a protest in Delhi on Saturday to condemn the alleged sexual exploitation of minors at a shelter home in Muzaffarpur of Bihar, an Indian state where the government is formed with support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party BJP.

Rahul Gandhi said that protesters have gathered to show the people of India, the women, and the weaker sections that Congress stands by them and shall not back down.

Rahul Gandhi said that as a nation we must condemn such incidents and ensure we work towards a safer India for all women. He added that there is no place for violence against women in a civilized society.

It is said that a social audit report revealed large-scale sexual exploitation of inmates in Bihar’s shelter home. Medical examination confirmed sexual exploitation of 29 of the 44 girls.

As the Indian media – which is extremely corrupt – does not report the incidents of crime and corruption that affect the Modi government, Rahul Gandhi exhorted the media to report fearlessly.

He said that most journalists are scared of Modi’s political machinery which is targeting them and colluding with the corrupt media houses to get the truthful journalists laid off.

Rahul Gandhi assured the journalist that his party will protect all those journalists who perform their duties truthfully to report about the misdeeds of the Modi government.
