Rajiv Mehrishi: New Comptroller and Auditor-General of India

Rajiv Mehrishi was sworn in as the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) of India today (September 25, 2017) at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He took and subscribed to the oath of office before the President.

The CAG of India is a position prescribed under the Constitution of India. The CAG office audits all receipts and expenditure of the Government of India and the state governments.

The CAG is also the external auditor of Government-owned corporations and conducts supplementary audit of government companies. The CAG position is equivalent to a judge of Supreme Court of India.

According to a government communique, Rajiv Mehrishi will have a tenure till August 7, 2020. He is the 13th CAG of India.
