How iPhone Helps You Find Your Sweet Home

Online real estate broker Sawbuck Realty has announced the availability of the Sawbuck Real Estate app for the iPhone and iPod touch.

The Sawbuck app lets users search the multiple listing service for homes for sale, open houses and recent sales. The application leverages the iPhone’s social media, GPS and data collection capabilities to allow users to find, tour and evaluate the homes they like best.

Also today, Jan. 21, Sawbuck launched service in the Philadelphia area allowing homebuyers to use Sawbuck.com and the new Sawbuck app to search for homes for sale and research recent sales.

“We’ve been hard at work on the app since last Summer,” said Guy Wolcott, Sawbuck’s co-founder and CEO. “Our goal was to do more than shrink our home search site and put it on your phone. We wanted to create the best possible mobile tool for homebuyers—to really take advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities. I think we’ve done just that, and we’re really excited to get it in people’s hands.”

Whether searching for a home from the couch or car, the Sawbuck app allows users to take full advantage of their device’s GPS and social media capabilities. During a home search, users can set up self-guided tours with turn-by-turn driving directions, or arrange for agent-guided tours with top-rated local real estate agents.

While touring homes, users can keep their friends and family in the loop by checking in via Twitter or Facebook, complete checklists to help remember details, and add private photos, videos, notes and ratings.

The Sawbuck app immediately synchronizes with users’ Sawbuck.com accounts so they can also access check-ins, checklists, photos, notes and ratings from a computer.

Using GPS-technology, the Sawbuck app locates users on a dynamic map and identifies nearby homes for sale, open houses and recently sold comparables. Users can search by moving the map, using sortable lists or browsing photos; and filter by price, number of bedrooms or home type.

Each for-sale listing includes all available photos, price history, property details, similar listings and open house information. In addition to real-time, detailed information and photos, users can view contract and sale prices for comparable homes. Out-of-area users also can use the Sawbuck app by selecting one of Sawbuck’s 13 markets.
