Jobs under Your Thumb as Monster Goes Mobile

The job market may be reeling in deep doldrums, but the vendors are undeterred and trying to woo the buyers with new solutions. Look at Monster in India. The leading online career and recruitment solutions provider has unveiled its Android applications for employers as well as jobseekers.

The idea, it says, is to provide consumers with a flexible, on-the-go, 24X7 platform to scout and apply for jobs. Monster India (MonsterIndia.com, a subsidiary of Monster.com) has also launched a new employer/recruiter interface on its WAP portal. It was announced today, August 17.

Monster’s Android application can be downloaded for free on the Google Android marketplace. The company says it has all the features and services which are available on Monsterindia.com.

Extending its tentacles in the new-media space, Monster recently launched BeKnown, a professional networking app designed to allow Facebook users to establish a professional network on the popular social platform. (Read: Monster Networking App BeKnown on Facebook)

Meanwhile, with as many as 50,000 jobs to fill worldwide by the end of the year, Marriott International will tap into the popularity of social media gaming to help generate interest in hospitality careers. (Read: What Games Can Do for You on Facebook)

Monster’s WAP portal for employers will help them search, shortlist, reach out and interact with prospective candidates. They can also post, renew and manage job postings.

“Our Android application and WAP portal for job search are a direct outcome of consumer feedback we’ve received, which pointed to an increasingly active and mobile lifestyle that necessitated the need for a mobile version of our job search capabilities,” said Sanjay Modi, managing director, Monster.com (India, Middle East, South East Asia).
