Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will visit Maharashtra today, September 8, to address the issues faced by farmers, traders, and civil society members.
He will discuss recently introduced Goods and Services Tax (GST), effects of demonetization on Indian economy, discrimination between small and medium industries, and rising unemployment in the country.
His first stop will be Nanded, for a meeting with local body leaders, following which he will travel by road to Parbhani to interact with farmers.
According to the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi will then meet civil society members to hear their issues. This will be followed by a public meeting ‘Sangharsh Sabha‘.
In 2017 so far, according to Congress, 580 farmers committed suicide in the state. The government’s loan waiver scheme has been completely rejected by protesting farmers, and the enforcement of online applications have left the farmers in a fix, Congress stated.
Mr. Gandhi, according to Congress, strives to address everyone’s concerns and appeal to the government to direct its attention to the plight of the agriculturists.
