Amid increasing animosity between Delhi Lt. Governor (LG) Anil Baijal and the government headed by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released a compendium of fresh allegations against Baijal.

In its 2017 year-end report, Kejriwal’s AAP laments that the LG enjoys all the powers in Delhi but he is not accountable for his failures.

The party claimed that the LG office has failed to discharge its duties in all administrative areas, but Baijal is always looking for cheap photo ops. It is observed that instead of doing some intellectual work, LG Baijal keeps roaming in gardens and streets along with a slew of idle officials.

Moreover, it is often seen that the LG office brazenly circulates Baijal’s colorful photos through Twitter and other communication channels when he is cutting ribbons or inaugurating ordinary roads.

Publicity Hunger

As most Indian bureaucrats and politicians are intellectually challenged, they cannot solve any problem that needs the use of intellect. In order to make their presence felt, they wear colorful clothes everyday and appear superficially in razzmatazz such as inauguration events, lamp-lighting ceremonies, aerial surveys of flood-affected areas, and showy brooming displays.

People of India do not need such bureaucrats and politicians to perform all these mundane jobs which even a donkey or a monkey can do. Click here for details.

In its annual analysis, AAP revealed that the LG is responsible to ensure law and order in the city as he is managing Delhi Police. But it claimed that Delhi Police is understaffed and crimes are increasing.

Similarly, according to AAP, while LG is the head of Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the quality of houses that DDA builds is pathetic. The party also complained that the LG did not give even an inch of land to Mohalla Clinics that Kejriwal government is trying to make.

Further, the party claimed that the LG office is neglecting the Delhi Government ministers in the issues related to transfers and postings of senior officials. As the LG office is not making fresh recruitments, according to AAP, the Delhi schools are working with guest teachers and new teachers are not being hired.

While this ugly fight between the AAP leaders and the LG continues, people of Delhi are suffering. Today, Delhi is among the most polluted and the dirtiest cities of the world, corruption is rampant in every street of Delhi while neither the LG office nor Kejriwal government could control it.

Similarly, the education standards – particularly in Delhi schools – are going from bad to worse while LG and Kejriwal have no interest in improving the quality of education.

LG Baijal keeps making armchair policies which are never implemented, while Kejriwal is always busy in politics instead of governance.

Thus, the LG office and Kejriwal’s Delhi Government have made Delhi a virtual hell. The less said about the Municipal Corporations of Delhi, the better.
