Calvin and Hobbes to Debut as Paperback Edition

Andrews McMeel Publishing (AMP) and Hugh T. Andrews, chief executive officer and president of AMP, announce The Complete Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson will debut as a paperback edition on November 13, 2012.

This four-volume slip-cased edition features French flaps and includes every cartoon published in syndication between November 1985 and January 1, 1996; an introduction by Watterson in which he shares his inspiration for and evolution of the comic strip; and cover artwork, illustrated stories, and poems from Calvin and Hobbes collections and treasuries. The retail price for the edition is $100.00.

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to offer the complete chronicle of the adventures of Calvin and Hobbes, the most beloved cartoon duo of all time, in this new format,” said Andrews.

Originally published in 2005, the hardcover edition of The Complete Calvin and Hobbes has sold more than 600,000 copies and became the heaviest and most expensive book to hit the New York Times best-seller list, according to AMP.

The Calvin and Hobbes is one of the most popular comic strips, and appeared in more than 2,400 newspapers when Watterson retired on January 1, 1996.

Andrews McMeel Publishing is a leading publisher of humor, cookbook, gift, puzzles, trade and children’s books.
