Celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2020, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has announced its annual calendar competition.

Launched in 2014, the WMO calendar competition invites high-quality artistic photographs of weather and the environment. As a UN agency, WMO will accept photographs which illustrate the theme of World Meteorological Day 2020, “Climate and Water.”

Winning entries will feature in the printed WMO 2020 calendar. They will be showcased on the WMO website and social media platforms and feature prominently in 70th anniversary celebrations. The photographs will also be promoted among other UN agencies, but there will be no financial reward.

You can take a striking photo which is related to weather, climate, or water and meets WMO submission guidelines. Photographers may submit multiple entries, but only one photo can be included in the printed calendar. If you share your photos on your own social media profiles, use the #WMOphoto hashtag.

You should fill out the mandatory online entry form and attach your photo and submit via a dedicated page on the WMO website. This is obligatory. Also add a short explanatory caption and location for your image. The competition is open for entries until 15 August.
