Look, How Cosmopolitan Welcomed the New Year

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the newest resort to open on the Las Vegas Strip, hosted the New Year’s Eve bash of the year, headlined by a concert featuring solo and mash-up performances by Grammy Award-winning artists Coldplay and JAY-Z.

Also, the guests were treated to surprise performances throughout the night when Kanye West, John Mayer and Beyonce joined JAY-Z on stage.

Eager to welcome 2011 with panache, many of the most recognizable names from the worlds of film, fashion, television and sports converged upon The Cosmopolitan for the invite-only celebration.

It included private performances at Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub as well as throughout the resort. Revelers on The Strip shared in the excitement as the once-in-a-lifetime New Year’s performance was broadcast live on the resort’s 65-foot digital marquee overlooking Las Vegas Boulevard.

The multi-day celebration began with an exclusive private bash at Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub at The Cosmopolitan, where indie rock band Florence + the Machine performed.

Other acts playing throughout the weekend at The Cosmopolitan’s diverse array of entertainment venues included Ben Folds, who performed a set during a lavish gala dinner, DJ Evalicious, Jamie Liddell, DJ Erick Morillo, DJ Samantha Ronson, Solange Knowles, Mavis Staples and DJ Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe.

Revelers at The Cosmopolitan’s New Year’s weekend included couples JAY-Z and Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, on again duo Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez, Haylie Duff and Nick Zano, Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan, Ellen Pompeo and husband Chris Ivery, and Mel B with Stephen Belafonte.

Also spotted at the weekend’s events were Gwyneth Paltrow–wife of Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin–Blake Lively and Jessica Szohr of Gossip Girl fame, Kellan Lutz, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Kirsten Dunst, Rashida Jones, Emmy Rossum, Bonnie Somerville, Shiri Appleby, Taraji Henson, Lucas Haas and Emmanuelle Chriqui.
