The Glenmorangie Company announces the launch of Finealta, the latest expression released from Glenmorangie’s Private Edition range.
Named after the Scottish Gaelic word for ‘elegant’, Finealta, pronounced ‘Finalta’, is an exquisite recreation of a Glenmorangie recipe dating back to 1903.
This century-old recipe was uncovered in the Glenmorangie’s Distillery archives. It is a recipe that was served in the early 1900’s at the American Bar of The Savoy, London’s most prestigious hotel.[ Also Read: Wanna become the Next Whisky Maker? ]
The era was substantially influenced by the La Belle Epoque, a time when the rich and titled freely socialized with artists, writers and the great actors of the day; creating an atmosphere full of ‘joie de vivre’.
The rich history of this expression inspired Dr. Bill Lumsden, head of Distilling and Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie to follow “the 1903 recipe meticulously, which included marrying whiskies of different ages from different types of casks.[ Also Read: Frei Brothers Reserve in Grow for Good Campaign ]
“The resulting whisky is one of depth and distinction that allows whisky connoisseurs and enthusiasts to taste a historic Glenmorangie Expression,” according to Lumsden.
Whisky aficionados, says the company, will delight in Finealta’s unique richness. Flavors of mandarin segments, lime and hints of cherry brandy combine with a spicy palate of nutmeg and ginger.
The final touch is a hint of peat which creates a subtle smokiness and depth, reminiscent of an era when the Glenmorangie Distillery dried its malted barley in a peat-fired kiln.[ Also Read: Only 100,000 Pounds for a Whisky Bottle ]
Finealta is bottled at a strength of 46% ABV and is non chill-filtered to impart a full body and texture. Glenmorangie Finealta Private Edition is a limited edition bottling, and is available now in the USA until stocks run out later this year, the company said Monday, Jan. 17.
The ‘joie de vivre’ theme is also being incorporated into Finealta’s New York City private launch event which will be held at The Box in early March.[ Also Read: Captain Morgan Targets One Million Poses ]
