Music Festival with Cupcakes at Myrtle Beach

The City of Myrtle Beach and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate their 75th anniversaries on Saturday, July 20, with beach music, cupcakes and more.

The Beach Music Festival, a huge summer birthday party, will be held from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Ocean Boulevard, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues North.

All anniversary events are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to use the hashtag ‘#myr75’ to follow and join the conversation during the anniversary celebration activities.

“We are thrilled by the loyalty and longevity of the vacationers who visit the Grand Strand year after year,” said Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes. “In our milestone 75th anniversary summer, we want to give our visitors and our residents a great birthday treat and some truly memorable entertainment.”

Saturday’s celebration will include a world record attempt with the assistance of Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne of Georgetown Cupcakes, featured in TLC’s hit series “DC Cupcakes.”

From 5 to 6:30 p.m., event organizers will build a giant pyramid with 7,500 of Georgetown Cupcakes’ best cupcakes, in an attempt to set a record for the world’s largest cupcake birthday cake.

Once the attempt is finished and unveiled around 7 p.m., the crowd will have the chance to enjoy eating the cupcakes. The sisters will meet with the public between 5:30-6:30 p.m.
