The Economist launches The Economist Espresso, the first daily edition in the publication’s 171-year history. The Economist Espresso was developed to serve as a complement to the weekly edition of the publication.

Available via iOS and Android smartphone apps or as an e-mail, Espresso is positioned as a concise briefing designed to be read on the go.

“The Economist has a long, rich and successful history of doing things differently from other media outlets and platforms,” said John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief, The Economist. “This new daily briefing will expand our reach and utility as a smart guide to the forces that shape the future, as we analyse the political, economic, social, cultural and technological forces that are changing the world.”

The Economist Espresso will be published each weekday morning in three editions for the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The Economist is a leading current affairs publication.
