Pencils of Promise (PoP), an organization that builds schools in the developing world, recently partnered with two-time Grammy nominee Justin Bieber to launch Schools4All.org, a fundraising challenge that engages students, schools and parents to partake in solving the global education crisis.
Individuals are asked to create an online fundraising page and raise money for PoP to help the organization construct more schools around the world.
The owner of the fundraising page with the highest dollar amount of donations at 11:59 p.m. ET on June 30, 2011 will win a visit from Justin Bieber and PoP Founder Adam Braun to their own school or one of their choice.[ Also Read: Storybook for Children on Biometric Security ]
Additionally, four trips to Guatemala to visit the PoP team on-the-ground are being randomly drawn every two weeks from all fundraisers that have raised over $100.
“Justin and I have envisioned this campaign for years, and we’re looking forward to visiting the school of the top fundraiser,” said Adam Braun, PoP founder and executive director.
“Seventy-five million children lack access to education and Schools4All.org is our way of showing that each person can play an important role in solving the global education crisis. Thousands have signed up already, and together we’re going to build many new schools alongside the communities that need them most.”[ Also Read: Super Why Paint Mobile App for Kids ]
According to Bieber, “This is about everyone out there realizing that they can make a difference, and together we can all help make a change for others through education.”
Pencils of Promise builds schools in the developing world and trains young leaders to take action at home and abroad.
Founded in October 2008 with $25 and the intention to build one school, Pencils of Promise will complete its 35th school across Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala in Spring 2011.
In the process, it says, PoP has inspired a movement of over 200,000 supporters committed to enabling education for all.
