The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, presented prizes and trophies to participants of Rashtrapati Bhavan T-20 Cricket Tournament, 2016 on Sunday.

He gave the trophy to the winning team – President’s Secretariat Avengers and the Runners-up – PBG Chargers. The President also presented prizes in other categories.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said it is important to participate in sports activities with a determination to win.

The primary objective of encouraging sports activities in Rashtrapati Bhavan is to promote the spirit of co-operation and sportsmanship which enables people face events of life with courage and fortitude.

He said from the young age if we learn to accept victory and loss with the same spirit, it would significantly strengthen us.

The seven teams which participated in the Tournament were President’s Secretariat Avengers, Household Royals, PBG Chargers, Delhi Police Challengers, JAK-LI Daredevils, CPWD Blasters and PMG Strikers.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan T-20 League Cricket Tournament, 2016 was inaugurated by Secretary to the President, Omita Paul on October 23, 2016 at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Sports Ground.

Fourteen matches were played in the tournament including an exhibition match between teams of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya and President’s Estate.
