Meet the New Toilet Queen Iris Hill

Jane Lynch joined the Procter & Gamble Charmin brand on Dec. 29 as emcee of the culminating event of a two-month nationwide search to find the Charmin Go Nation King or Queen of the Throne. 

Alabama’s contest representative, Iris Hill, was crowned the winner and awarded the $50,000 grand prize after proving her throne-worthiness in bathroom trivia knowledge and on point toilet paper, mummy-wrapping skills. 

As the Charmin Go Nation Queen, she will preside over the Charmin Restrooms for the last few days of 2010, sharing her Charmin enthusiasm by greeting and welcoming visitors and their families to New York City.

In the final dash for the royal stipend, the finalists participated in two rounds of competition: bathroom trivia questions and physical challenges featuring a Charmin stacking competition, a Charmin tossing competition and a Charmin mummy competition.

Recently, Charmin decorated its fifth-annual seasonal restrooms in New York City by decking the stalls with a colorful array of toilet seat covers. (Read: Charmin Promises Charm in Your Toilets)

Moreover, the P&G brand had roped in beauty queen Kim Kardashian for New York residents and a crowd of excited holiday shoppers to officially open the fifth consecutive year of the Charmin Restrooms.

These restrooms offered a free, clean and family-friendly place to “enjoy the go” during this busy holiday shopping season. (Read: Kim Kardashian Gets into Charmin Restrooms)

With Hill as the Queen, four additional finalists from across the country came out to New York City and now sit in her royal court as runners up, including Erica Cicero from Arizona, Jenny Haskell from Maine, Justin Berkobien from Michigan, and Melissa Young from Pennsylvania.

The Charmin Go Nation Contest launched on Oct. 18 with a nationwide search to find one representative from each state or district to compete for the chance to be crowned King or Queen of the Charmin Restrooms in New York City.

On the Restrooms’ 2010 opening day on Nov. 23, the state representatives were announced to the public.

This year’s Charmin Restrooms feature baby changing stations and comfortable lounge areas along with special features such as an oversized toilet photo-op, potty dance stage, giant smartphone-inspired video display and a social media kiosk area.

The Charmin Restrooms, located at 142 West 42nd Street near Times Square between 6th Avenue and Broadway, are open to the public from 10:00a.m. – 9:00p.m. through Dec. 31.
